Kyle Tucker is a Chicago Cub!

The Chicago Cubs have acquired outfielder Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros via trade in exchange for Isaac Peredes, Zach Wesneski, and Cam Smith.

Kyle Tucker spent 6 years with the Astros racking up an impressive resumé and is arguably a top-15 player in the MLB right now. Some of his accolades include 1 Gold Glove, 1 Silver Slugger, 3 time All-Star, World Series Champion, and also finished 5th place in MVP voting in 2023 where he led the league in RBI’s.

Since 2021, only two players in the MLB have 100 HR, 80 SB, with a .280 BA. Those two players are Kyle Tucker and Shohei Ohtani

When Tucker was introduced as a new member of the Cubs, he thanked the Astros for everything they have done for him, and shared his thoughts on his new club. "I don't think I could've gone to a much better organization than the Cubs."

The Cubs have been on the brink of making the postseason for the past two years now but have not been in the postseason since the shortened 2020 season. The Cubs are solidifying their position as one of the best defensive teams in the league with Tucker joining gold glovers Dansby Swanson, Ian Happ, and Nico Hoerner, along with rising star Pete Crow-Armstrong in the outfield. Tucker will also provide the Cubs with much needed batting power and veteran leadership to help bring the Cubs back in full swing.

The Cubs have recently traded OF/1B Cody Bellinger to the Yankees, which puts them in need for another slugger to really solidify their roster as potential contenders. If the Cubs are able to target a powerful infielder such as free agent Nolan Arenado they would fill the gap at 3B and the gap in their batting order. The Cubs have also interviewed Japanese superstar Roki Sasaki as a potential ace to go beside Shota Imanaga on the mound.

If Jed Hoyer is able to spend some money this offseason and acquire a couple more notable players, the Cubs will be a fun team to watch and will be contenders to win the World Series in 2025.
