Jameis Winston and Jerry Jeudy Have Record Setting Performances Despite 41-32 Loss to Broncos

Monday night football in week 13 of the NFL season between the Browns and the Broncos was not a game you wanted to skip out on. In case you missed some of the action, here is a condensed recap of a fun Monday nighter.

Browns QB Jameis Winston had an incredible outing putting up 497 passing yards and 4 passing TD’s. Even with these career numbers, Jameis threw 3 interceptions, 2 of which ended up being a pick 6. Jameis is a very unique quarterback, because you never know what you’re going to get when he steps on the field. Jameis’ 497 passing yards set a new Browns record for passing yards in a single game, but his 3 interceptions ended up costing the Browns the football game. Jameis still shows great promise to Browns fans as a solid veteran quarterback that can provide big time plays when necessary. There was a big controversy earlier in the year about whether or not Jameis should have started over former starter Deshaun Watson. The Browns started the year 1-6 under Watson, until he suffered a torn achilles in week 7. Jameis took over the starting position in week 8 and eventually led the Browns to 2 more wins, and frankly more exciting games to watch.

In his first game back in Denver, Browns WR Jerry Jeudy had a breakout game recording 235 receiving yards and 1 TD. Jerry Jeudy also set a new NFL record for most receiving yards against a former team in a single game. Jeudy averaged 26 yards per catch including a 70 yard reception leading to a touchdown, and a 43 yard reception to start the game. Browns TE David Njoku played a big role in the Browns positive offensive performance, finishing with 9 receptions for 52 yards and 2 touchdown receptions.

On the winning teams side, Broncos QB Bo Nix completed 18 throws for 294 yards, including a 93 yard bomb to Marvin Mims Jr. resulting in a TD. It seems that the Broncos have found their next franchise quarterback as Nix leads the Broncos to an 8-5 record entering a well deserved bye week. Bo Nix has looked fantastic all season and is in the discussion for Rookie of the Year, trying to challenge the current favorite Jayden Daniels.

At the end of the day, the Broncos defense secured the win by nullifying the Browns magical offensive performace. Nick Bonitto and Ja’Quan McMillian were the two defenseman bringing home the interceptions for a touchdown, and Cody Barton making the third and final interception with 40 seconds remaining in the game at the goal line.

With the Broncos 8-5 record they are making a strong case to make the playoffs as they currently hold the final wild card spot in the AFC. The Broncos are 0.5 games behind their division leader Chargers, who are 8-4. It would be a massive achievement if the Broncos were able to make the playoffs, since the team hasn't been in the playoffs since winning the Super Bowl after the 2015 season. The Broncos currently have a 76% chance to make the playoffs this year, and are starting to look like future contenders under their new rookie quarterback and head coach Sean Payton.
